Inside our wine cellar….. And into October we arrive, fires are lit and evening are spent in cosiness and warmth. We are delighted to introduce wines from Sicily, Italy. These are luscious and well worth a try . Grillo 2017, Sicily, Italy Grillo has become the signature variety for fresh, clean whites from Sicily. Vibrant and savoury, this opens with lovely aromas of spring flower, citrus, herb, and white stone fruit. The round, juicy palate offers ripe white peach, juicy grapefruit, pineapple and mineral alongside fresh acidity. A saline note backs up the finish. The wine is unoaked to preserve the freshness of the variety. Nero d’Avola, Sicily, Italy Sicily’s big signature red grape. This is dark and densely coloured with black fruits and spice on the nose. On the palate, surprisingly soft tannins deliver a rich, almost floral experience. Black fruits, herbs, graphite and a touch of savoury meatiness. Really sings on the tip of the tongue.
