Brunch continues to enjoy an extended popularity, it’s a perfect way to catch up with friends, a tasty yet lazy start to a cheat day or as a kickstart to a day of fun and activity. We are constantly changing our Brunch menu at AJLA to add new flavours, embrace healthy options or sink into some focaccia led yumminess.
July is Galway is a cracker yet too often as locals we forget to embrace the drama and celebrate the festival fever in our city of the tribes. AJLA is chasing the festival season this July and changing up a gear with our brunch menu which we intend to put to the test as tourists at home in Galway!
Our challenge is to get out there and enjoy Galway in the summer and we are quite excited by the demand! The first outing had to be Galway Arts festival and last Thursday was the day. Brunch in AJLA a sweet potato rosti with poached egg & hollandaise. Simple, light and tasty, the perfect bite to put a pep in our step. Sun high in the sky, buskers and performers from top to bottom of shop street, creative arts at Market street and merchants road, an outdoor living room in Eyre square. The city was alive with people, every street enjoyed colour, music, noise and life. It was a beautiful day!
Next up is a visit to the festival big top and a big Galway gig, we cannot wait. A skip around town, a delicious bite to eat a walk along the canal to the big blue beacon on the banks of the corrib. Exciting, electric Galway!
Next up will be the Galway Races, we just love it. The chat in the lead up, “Are you set for the races”, the signs, the painting, the grass cutting, a manic preparation for a massive week of fun. The Galway Races, the anchor of the season, the point from which the locals start to lament the passing of summer, an occasion with no equal.
We will continue our campaign and hit for Ballybritt to savour the colour and the crowds. We will launch off from brunch, a hearty full Irish this time before we join the typical racing chat and the desperation for tips. And then, most important of all, take a moment in the stand to listen to the crowd… the horses come out of the dip through the incline to race for home, the noise, the roar, the celebration, the Galway races. There is magic in that moment!
Galway in July, a treat for the senses, a gift for the summer and a chance to live in the minute…
